STEAM Takes the Lead at Dual Language Night

Robots raced, sensors sparked, and students learned in two languages during our Spanish and English night of innovation and fun.

A Night of Robots, Racing, and Bilingual Discovery

On Sunday, families filled the CFI Robotics Center with excitement for our latest Dual Language STEAM Night, where students explored robotics through both Spanish and English. The evening’s challenge: build a LEGO robot that could race forward, detect light, and stop at the perfect moment.

Before the building began, students learned key vocabulary in both languages. With support from parents and teachers, they practiced using engineering terms while preparing to take on the hands-on challenge.

Designing Robots That Think

Students worked together to build LEGO racecars and program them to respond to light sensors. The goal was to create a robot that could zoom across the track and stop safely without crashing. Some robots stopped too early, others too late, but each round of testing helped students improve their designs and code.

As robots lined up to race, families cheered each other on. Many students experimented with sensor placement and made quick changes to their code between races. The room was filled with laughter, teamwork, and creative problem-solving.

Spotlight on Student Innovation

This event also featured two amazing presentations from CFI students.

Jayden shares the LEGO axle sorter he is designing and building from scratch.

Both students inspired the crowd by showing what’s possible when passion meets persistence. Their projects gave younger students a glimpse of what they can achieve by sticking with STEAM.

Thank You to Our Team

We are so grateful to our teachers and volunteers who made the night extra special. Thank you to Ms. Isabel, Ms. Alvarez, Isaias, Christian, Jayden, and Raymond for supporting students, guiding families, and helping make the event a success.
