Deep Innovators Make a Splash at Sectionals!

The Deep Innovators, Team #66216, made an incredible impact in their rookie season at the FIRST LEGO League Illinois Sectionals! Competing with skill, strategy, and teamwork, they secured 2nd place in Robot Performance with an impressive 415-point run and earned the prestigious Robot Design Finalists Award. Their dedication and innovation set them apart, making this an unforgettable first season.

Meet the Team

The Deep Innovators are five passionate problem-solvers who worked together to push the limits of robotics and research:

• Rayva, co-captain, led the team through presentations and research with confidence.

• David, co-captain and robotics strategist, took charge of the table runs.

• Jack, a creative builder, was the team’s go-to problem solver.

• Corey balanced both building and programming, securing the team’s highest-scoring run.

• Oscolanio, the team manager, kept everyone on track and ensured continuous improvement.

Their combined efforts, creativity, and teamwork have paved the way for future success!

Innovation & Robotics

This season, the Deep Innovators tackled a real-world challenge in marine geology. Their innovation project focused on remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) for sample collection, exploring ways to make this technology more cost-effective and modular. Their robot, designed for adaptability and efficiency, delivered an outstanding 415-point performance at sectionals. Through a combination of research, engineering, and problem-solving, they showcased the true spirit of innovation.

Though their competition season has ended, the Deep Innovators are just getting started! They will continue refining their skills, exploring new robotics challenges, and mentoring future teams. Their STEAM journey is just beginning, and we are incredibly proud of their rookie-year achievements.
